Milestone: Paul's first shoplift.

So, we're in Michael's craft store, getting ribbons for the luggage. We're using a Babies r Us shopping cart (where we were going last in our shopping tour of a strip mall) as a stroller, with Joss in his car seat in the shopping cart seat area, and Paul hanging out in the basket part.

We go to pay for the ribbons and a felt elephant hat (much like his monkey hat, and NOT like the perverted knit hat Safta bought for him last winter), and all seems well. We leave the store, and walk to our next destination.

I come around the front of the cart to open the store door, and I see something shiny in Paul's hand. Did you take something that wasn't yours, Paul? He did - a Ghiradelli's chocolate from the display by the register. And it was all soft and melty through the wrapper from his hot lil hand. *sigh*

We go all the way back to Michael's, where the clerk and a co-worker are chatting by the register. I explain that my child took something that was not his, and had him apologize, and pay for the candy. The clerk was not only surprised that I came back, but thought the slightly shamed boy in his elephant hat and blue sunglasses was the cutest thing she's ever seen.

Once we left the store, I explained again how we do not take things that aren't ours, and gave a kiss to the cutest petty crook for miles around.
