Mommy gets a haircut.

Paul said he wouldn't mind if I borrowed some bandwidth for my own milestone. After nearly 3 decades of long hair, today I had it all cut off.

My stylist, Matt at Moderno Salon, was awesome. . .
The big cut!!
Eeep! No turning back now!!!
Shawn gave me lots of moral support.
And now. . .

Special message for Daddy

We love you! Come home soon!

Be very careful drinking soda at our house. . .

Right after I turned off the camera, Paul held a can up over his head, chortled, and dropped it. . .where it cracked open and doused both of us. Paul couldn't decide if he was going to laugh or cry, until I began laughing. . .

The best part? The floor had been cleaned just this morning. At least it was diet soda. . .

Double Ear Infection - #2 of 2009

Paul kindly passed his virus on to Mommy, and upgraded himself to a double ear infection. This is his second of 2009, for those of you at home who are keeping score.

He's on antibiotics, and after 2 doses he's back to his charming, silly, nutty little self, which is a welcome relief from the Mr. Cranky Pants of the past few days.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

So, today has been a difficult day. Paul woke up cool but congested and cranky. He didn't eat much breakfast, only napped about half an hour, got easily frustrated while playing, and didn't eat much lunch. We went out for a walk - it was cold but sunny - and he slept for about 20 minutes, and was kind of logy for the rest.

By the time we got home, his temp spiked to 104.8. He took Tylenol, Motrin, and lots of water. Once the medication kicked in, he had some pretzels and Nilla wafers, and played a little while. Eventually, his exhaustion turned play into frustration, so I put him in the pack and play thinking he might nap a little while. . .

I didn't realize he'd fall asleep SITTING UP. . .

Sorry for snickering on camera - it was just so funny. Don't worry, though. I (gently) tipped him over, and he got to sleep for about an hour.

Paul's in his cups. . .

Latest favorite activity - playing with his cup drawer. Cups, and lids, and valves, oh my!

Video:

You give me fever. . .

Fever. . . in the mornin'. Fever all through the night . . .
Yup, ole bubonic is back in action, now with more mucus. . .

Mommy got called at work today to pick up Paul early. After the Tylenol kicked in, Paul felt well enough to play a little.
What a great toy, you might be thinking, full of brightly colored beads, knobs, and fobs. Any baby would love to play with all those beads, knobs, and fobs! Well, you would be wrong. Paul does, however, enjoy dropping objects (in this instance, a container of baby prunes) through the beads, picking up said object, and dropping it again. And again. And again. . .

(We were watching the Oscars - Paul loved the big song/dance medleys.)

Saturday walk about the living room. . .

Paul walked his "alligator" around the living room on Saturday. . .well, for a few minutes, anyway. . .
. . .the trooper pulled him over with a .09 BMC (blood milk concentration). . .
The baby-cage is bouncy!
5 points for hitting the bucket!
Score!!

Stuck in the bin. . .

On Thursday, Paul some how got himself stuck in a bin. It was funny. . .
. . .oh how we laughed. . .
. . .or not. . .

Playdate on Sunday 2/15

On Sunday, Paul had a play date with James. Again, we forgot the camera. =(

Paul and James had a great time trying to drink from each other's water bottles - I don't get it either, I guess it's a toddler-guy thing.

The adorableness was rampant, and a good time was had by all.

Way behind in blog posts!

So sorry we're so far behind on blog posts! We've been recovering from our Florida vacation, getting back into the routine, and then getting sick - yet again. . .

But first, to back track. . .

Saturday, 2/14, our friend from college, Joe Vaughn, was in Cambridge with his all-star, high school debate team (he's a physics teacher and debate coach). We got to see him for lunch and had a great time catching-up.

The funniest part was when Paul got his fork stuck in his high-chair, and raccoon-like, refused to let it go and retrieve his hand. (Guess you had to be there.)

We forgot the camera, so here's a drawing instead:

Florida 2009 - Friday - home again

Vacation's end arrived too soon. . .it's time to go back to the frigid north.
Cousin Alison helps Paul get dressed in his winter gear.

Paul doesn't want to go back to Boston! He wants to stay in Florida with Bubbie Barbara!!
However, a Fig Newton in the airport helps to ease the pain. . .
Drink - check. Seat belt - check. Rat (stuffed) - check. Ready to fly!

Paul decided that he was NOT going to nap on this flight - no sirree, not a single Z - and spent 2/3 of the trip munching snacks, and the other 1/3 either walking the aisle or playing with Daddy's window shade. . .
