File under: Things I Never Thought About Before I Had a Baby

Did you know?

Those individual juice sacs in a citrus fruit - say, a clementine - can pass through the human digenstive system completely intact, much like an un-chewed kernal of corn.

New food: Clementines

Apparently, according to Daddy, Paul LOVES him some clementine oranges. While foraging through Whole Foods, Daddy broke clementine slices into thirds, and Paul could not eat them fast enough.

Does it count even if there's no pictorial evidence?

Paul enjoys turkey breast for dinner

I tried to feed Paul some small bits of turkey - but he reached past me and grabbed the whole slice and tried to shove it in his mouth. Man's gotta feed himself, you know?

Bubbie Barbara and her Minis in NH

Paul has been feeling better this weekend - last night, Mommy and Daddy even went out to dinner and a movie!

Bubbie Barbara came north from Florida to attend a Mini Convention. No, the convention was full sized, it was for miniature enthusiasts, and no one is more mini-enthused than Bubbie!

Today, 4 generations gather to luncheon at the Radisson in Nashua. . . aim high, Lifschutz/Rosenblum/Ornstein/Weils, aim high. . .
Enough with the Bubbie-lovin', I need a meal! I haven't eaten in 4 days due to fever - feed me!
Why am I at a Mini Convention? How much does my wife owe me for driving her up here? Where is the chocolate?
Finally, Safta Sheila comes through with the goods, er, bottle. . .
A man who loves his menu. . .
Videos can be found in another post - should be below this one.

We hope to see you again soon, Bubbie - this time, we'll get you to stay over for a few days! We love you!

A Boy and his Menu

Bubbies are delicious.

Attack! Well, sort of. . .almost. . .not really. . .

What's with the hand?

New food: American Cheese

Hmmmm. . .it's orange and shiny. . .
I think he likes it. . .

Two-fisting the cheese. . .
Mmmmmm. . .64 slices of American cheese. . . .gulp gulp gulp. . .

Fun with Old Friends - 3 weeks ago!

Whoops! These photos from July 6 were stuck as a draft! One of my oldest friends, Terri, and her family joined us for breakfast during a trip up to Boston. It was really nice catching up--and watching Paul and her son fight in the baby sumo ring we had built for just this occasion.

Here is Terri, Darren, and Dylan with Beren, Paul, and me. Dylan and Paul are checking each other out before the next round of sumo.
The whole crew, with Terri's brother Mike and Vizma, another good friend from good ol' MHHS.

Gerber Zweiback - not just food, it's apparel

. . .and a great leave-in conditioner!

Don't worry - Mommy took care of the bathing, and Daddy did the drying. . .and hair styling. . .
Paul had his 9 month doctor's appointment today - he's over 28" long, about 21.1# (he's lost a little weight with this virus), with a head circumference of 18" - in the 40th, 60th, and 60th percentiles respectively.

He also still has a virus (he tested negative for strep) so we're keeping him Tylenol-ed, Motrin-ed, and as hydrated as possible. Poor baby!

Safta got me a Pony!!!

In between bouts of fever - and when he's not gagging on/barfing up the medication we give him to reduce the fever - Paul gets in a little play-time. . .

Grrrrrrr

Our monkey-boy

Even sick with a miserable fever, and even at 3am, Paul manages to amuse us. Here he is trying to hold his bottle with all four hands, er, his hands and feet. . .

I did it for you!

I did it ALL for you, Damien!

It's never an easy day. . .

So, Paul was sent home from daycare early yesterday due to a fever. Daddy picked him up, gave him Tylenol, and while hot, Paul acted almost normally, ate and nursed, and went to bed like usual.

This morning he was hot again, given more Tylenol, and then Paul and Daddy played nicely together all morning. Mommy came home at lunch to nurse, and Paul fell asleep for a while. . .

When he woke up, Paul had a much higher fever (105.3!). Daddy took him to the doctor, and the doctor said (no, not "no more monkeys jumping on the bed") that his blood work was boarderline, and to take him to the ER, just to be on the safe side.

Daddy called Mommy at work, and as Daddy took Paul to the ER, Mommy had a quiet freak-out, and left work early to join them.

Paul's fever broke just as he was being checked out by the ER doc (not George Clooney, but still a nice man). We were sent home with the diagnosis of a virus, and instructions to hydrate, Tylenol, and watch for developing mutant abilities.

So far so good. . .

HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY BUBBIE ROSE!!!

HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY BUBBIE ROSE!

WE LOVE YOU!!!

Paul says "Happy Birthday" in his unique way. . .

Busy Weekend: Sunday Already!

It was a busy weekend -

  • Safta came up on Friday

  • Paul didn't nap on Friday and was a ball of fury all night

  • Saturday, Daddy sang the Musaf service at Temple (great job, Daddy! The accoustics at KI love you!)

  • Mommy and Daddy went to a party Saturday night and Safta got to babysit Paul

  • Sunday was brunch with Mike, Reiko, and James (we forgot to take pictures!)

  • Then a hot walk home

Thank goodness Daddy's shoulders are high enough to catch the breeze. . .

When we all got home, Safta put Paul down for a nap while Mommy and Daddy worked in the basement to unpack boxes left over from the move. . .four years ago. . .

Thanks for a great weekend, Safta! We'll see you next week!

Busy Weekend: Safta Sheila Arrived!

Wait, who is this lady? She's changed so much since I saw her last. . .oh, wait, it was me that grew like crazy. Carry on.

No, Safta, I'm talking now - you hush!
Ah! Ah! Stop tickling me! Stop! No! Wait - what are you doing, keep going!
Hee hee hee - not the foot! Oh no! Hee hee hee!
Whew! That was fun. Now, where are those eye-glasses I wanted to eat?

Busy Weekend: Friday is Laundry Day

Before Safta Sheila arrives, Paul helps Mommy fold some laundry.

Paul, I don't believe that's a hat. . .

Peek-a-Paul!
There you are!
Paul is the anti-folder.

A more ignominious first. . .

Paul pooped in the bathtub for the first time tonight!

(we did NOT take pictures)

Got bleach?

New food: Yogurt

Paul is nearly 9 months old - it felt like the right time to introduce non-mommy dairy.

Paul, this is dairy. Dairy, this is Paul.

Very pleased to meet you, Dairy.
MORE! And I can do it myself!*

*He really can't yet, but soon. . .very soon. . .
