Safta Claus!

Santa doesn't visit our house, but Safta Claus does! Safta came up on Boxing Day to visit her boys and bring many "pleasants." Lets take a nice picture!

Everyone look at Mommy!

Look over here!

Over here! Look at Mommy!

OK, now smile! Cheese!

No, smile! Smile! *makes funny face* Blurghity blapffity!

*sigh*

Eating "apple boats"

Paul only wanted to eat his apple boats (apple cut into small triangularish shapes that vaguely resemble boats) standing at the kitchen counter.

As I was cutting them up, he would gently place his hand on mine and say "Don't cut you hand, Mommy."

Joss practices his gynmastics. . .

Mommy watched him pull and tug that chair half way across the room. It was awesome.

Joss helps Mommy with the laundry.

Joss, Mommy just folded that shirt. . .

Wait, come back here. . .

Don't grab the dishtowels!

Who's under that pile of laundry?

It's Joss!

New Food: Teething Biscuit

Joss was jealous watching Paul eat the Zwieback Mommy baked, so we gave Joss some baby biscuits to gnaw on. . .

Hmmm. . .

Examining the biscuit. . .

Tasting. . .

Preferring a truck. *sigh*

That's not food, Joss! Hahahaha!

Sleep away party!

So, Daddy travels a lot for work, and often stays in a chain of hotels where he has Gold status. This entitles him to many perks, including but not limited to, free WiFi, free breakfast, all the pillows he needs for fort building, etc. Since he didn't travel much for the first quarter of the year, he needed a few more stays to maintain his Gold status. For one stay, Daddy and Mommy stayed a night by themselves (uninterrupted sleep - hooray! Thanks for 'sitting, Safta!). For an other, we had a Family Sleep Over Party!

Here's Paul all dressed for the winter cold. . .yes, two hats, and he wears his sunglasses at night.

His future's so bright, he has to wear shades.

Paul called Bubbie Barbara to thank her for the beautiful hat and scarf, and to tell her about the "biiig word" he learned in school: trans-por-ta-tion, moving from one place to another.

Joss was thrilled to have a whole new set of nice linens to spit-up upon.

For best viewing of the next five pictures: print them out and staple them into a flip book.

Who's that hiding behind the book?

Peek-a-Joss!

Paul Speaks

Collected over the past few weeks. . .

Leaving the YMCA after swimming lessons on a fairly cold afternoon:
YMCA Lady: Goodbye!
Paul: I'm going home to have some hot chocolate! (Paul pronounces each syllable carefully - cho-ko-lat.) I loooooove hot chocolate!
Y: Me too!
Paul takes a few steps towards the door, then turns around.
P: It's hot!
Another few steps towards the door, then
P: And BROWN!

****************************************

Daddy: Do you think Mommy and I look the same?
Paul: You look like eggs.

****************************************

D: What do you think about Santa Claus?
P: Santa is a big, big, big, big, giant robot.

****************************************

While changing a dirty diaper:
Mommy: You ate so many carrots, your poop is orange.
Paul: Want celery!
M: You want celery?
P: Yeah! Want to make poop GREEN!!

Mr. Cool

Getting there. . .

Hanukkah 2010 - Last Night

8 nights went by so fast! Uncle Eric and the cousins came over to celebrate the last night of Joss' first Hanukkah.

We lit candles, sang and danced, ate lasagna and latkes and apple cake made from scratch. . .

. . .and of course presents. Jacob got a book store gift card. . .wrapped in a small box, wrapped in a shoe box, wrapped in a diaper box. Sophia got a french memo board for her new room, and Asher got a worm farm. Joss and Paul got unspeakably loud animatronic dolls which dance and sing to "Ring of Fire" (dalmatian dressed as a fireman) and "Bad Boys(What You Gonna Do)" (bear dressed as a policeman). Paul loves playing them both. Simultaneously. Thanks, Uncle Eric.

Hanukkah 2010 - Fifth Night

More than half-way through Hanukkah! And we have a new menorah. =)

Paul only wants to blow them out, like birthday candles.

Using our new apple bakers (while the one on the left was less aesthetic, both apples were tasty).

A baby and an alligator sit in a basket. . .do you need a punchline?

New Food: American Cheese

Safta! What the *&^% did you just put into my mouth?!?

I do not like this. . .American Cheese of yours.

Get it out of my mouth!

Pblath - not fast enough!!

(These pictures are from December 4, 2010. As of posting, December 25, Joss will hoover down a full slice of cheese in 2.7 seconds. Seriously. He grabs at the little pieces and crams them into his mouth as fast as he can.)

Like that scene from American Beauty. . .

. . .only instead of roses it's finger puppets from Ikea, and instead of Mena Suvari it's Joss. (There is no Kevin Spacey in our version - I still have not forgiven him for K-Pax.)
