Driving. . .

. . .the car at the playground and Mommy crazy. . .

Paul is a rock star.

I "caught" Paul reading to Joss today. He pulled a chair right up to the swing, sat down, and began "reading" an alphabet book, explaining the pictures as he went along. . .
I thought it was awesome. Joss seemed to enjoy it, and by "enjoy it" I mean "slept through it."
Then I asked Paul to put on his socks and get his shoes. He ran out of the room then ran back in with the socks on his hands. He was thrilled with himself. Eventually, he sat down and began to put the socks on his feet. He got one sock part way on, then got distracted by the dust buster. When asked what he was doing, he looked up and said, "I'm under the table, Mommy." (The "duh" was implied.)
We finally got all involved parties properly shod, car seated, and out to Trader Joe's. With Joss in the Moby Wrap, and Paul manning a child-sized shopping cart, grocery shopping has never been so fun! Paul was a total rock star, picking out yogurts, putting pizza dough and bananas into the cart, and hardly ever bashing into a display case. Paul took a victory lap around the store, then helped put the groceries on the counter for the man to scan and bag. Then he helped carry the extra cloth shopping bags back to the car.
After TJ's, we went to the playground. Paul is so close to figuring out how to pedal a tricycle. (The vehicle in the picture is not a tricycle.) After an hour, Paul helped by carrying Joss' empty bottle back to the car. Then he ate one of the "big yogurts" in a "big cup" for lunch, and went for a nap with only some resistance and a small tantrum. Hey, even a rock star's gotta keep his street cred, right?

Smile, Joss, Smile

C'mon, Joss - can I get a smile?
Aw, you can do better than that.
That's better, but not quite there. . .
That's it! Yay Joss!

Weird PJs

Paul found a bag where we had set aside this beautiful sweater set made for Joss for next winter. Paul put on the sweater and refused to take it off. He insisted on wearing it to bed. With the hat.

Weekend Fun - Sunday part 3

Daddy and Joss wait for the ferry home.
Paul eats cheese crackers, since a seagull polished off most of his sandwich.

Weekend Fun - Sunday part 2

Far.
Closer.
Closer.
Closer.
JOSS!

Weekend Fun - Sunday

On Sunday, we took the ferry to Georges Island, one of the Boston Harbor islands, for a picnic outing. Paul loved the boat ride. . .. . .and at least Mommy didn't barf. It was a gorgeous day for kite flying. Next time we'll have to bring a kite. . .
Joss was inspired by the view of Boston.
Hi Daddy! Hi Paul!

Weekend Fun - Saturday - more fair pics

Lion-Paul gets a euphonium recital while sitting at the table and eating "eggs lami-lami" with a fork.

Weekend Fun - Saturday

We decided to take advantage of the good weather with some fun family activities! On Saturday, we went to a fair in nearby Winchester. Paul was just tall enough for some of the kiddy rides. He rode this train twice!
We met up with Sonia, Kavi, and their daddy Talib at the fair. Kavi is a bit too small for the rides, so Daddy took Paul and Sonia on the spinning Dragon while Kavi, Joss, Talib and Mommy waved and cheered.
After hotdogs and hamburgers, Paul, Sonia, and Kavi got to ride the "wiggle worm."
This picture isn't the best representation of Paul on the ride - he was having a blast!

There was also a book sale at the fair, and Mommy found a hard-back book of the movie Annie - complete with movie stills. Paul loved the book, had daddy read it at bedtime, and woke up several times during the night to "read" it himself.

Spring is here!

Somebody's always gotta have a binky, huh?
Paul gives the best nose kisses.

Paul and Joss

For Paul, all problems can be solved with the judicious application of a binky. . .

I walked into the room to find Paul cracking the heck up every time Joss would smile. All was fun and baby giggles until Paul decided to feed Joss. . .cow's milk from his sippy cup. . .

Thank you, Jodi!

When Daddy was away for 3 days (4 sleeps) last week, Jodi came over Tuesday night to help mommy with the evening hysteria. While Mommy wrangled a tantrum-tossing Paul (when he misses his Daddy, Dr. Paul turns into Mr. Hyde's more awful cousin), Jodi had the arduous task of holding Joss. Thank you so much for your sacrifice, Jodi. We salute you!

Markers and Paper

Paul loooooves the marker set that Safta brought for him. Mommy loves that they are (mostly) washable, especially since Paul also likes to draw on his hands, face, and clothes.

The weird, squeaky chatter at the very beginning is what Paul uses to vocalize for inanimate objects - the markers had been having a conversation as the camera was found and turned on. Froggy also speaks in a ridiculously high and grating voice. Yay.

FEED ME!!

Last Tuesday (05/11/10), Mommy and Joss went to see Iron Man 2 at the Jordan's IMAX with Quinn (Georgia's baby brother) and Quinn's mommy, Kara. The movie was a lot of fun, and Joss only cried during one of the 3 quiet scenes in the whole movie.

Afterwards, the mommies found a quiet spot in the furniture showroom to feed the boys (leather armchair + ottoman only $799!). Joss felt Mommy wasn't working the bottle fast enough, and decided to take matters into his own hands. . .

Whew - all that feeding of oneself wears oneself out!

Compare/Contrast: Three Month Edition

Joss at 3 months:
Paul at 3 months:
Paul was smiling a little more often than Joss does, although Joss is smiling now, and is quite charming when he does.
Joss lost almost all of his reddish newborn hair, and has fuzz-of-indeterminate-color growing in; Paul still had a head of very dark brown dandelion fluff.
Paul was generally very quiet, except when he was crying; Joss moans and grunts and coos and vocalizes rather often.
Both boys had/have witching hours in the evening, where they cry/ed inconsolably for no apparent reason for 30-90 minutes unless they were/are held in ultra-specific positions (example: on belly over parent's knee at a precise angle with an exact frequency of bouncing and/or back patting).
Both boys were/are good nursers and bottle eaters - no "nipple confusion" for these guys, and both are cuddly and delicious, and stay crunchy in milk.
