1:28 of random cuteness

These videos are shamelessly indulgent - just Paul, chilling out, sucking his fist, doing nothing except existing and being adorable. These videos will be dull and tiresome if you are not his target audience - but you know who you are, target people!

Shower Time

All that hard labor in the fields, mud wrestling, and clubbing has made Paul sweaty and dirty. So, it was time for a shower. Because we don't have a lot of hot water, he relented to shower with his father.

Paul is the cute one

Update and a few pictures

So, we've spent the last few days trying to recuperate from our big, busy weekend last week.

Paul had his first shower with Mommy, which he seemed to enjoy very much - more so than his usual baths. He'll try showering with Daddy next - ooh, chest hair to grab!!

Here's Paul ready to head-bang with the heavy metal bands:

Here's Paul in da hood, word. (Literally, in a hood.):

Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the River and Through the Woods...

We had a very eventful weekend. Beren, Paul, and I drove down to Highland Mills on Friday and Saturday and saw Safta, Cindy, Jes, Uncle Adam & Aunt Jill, Cousins Josh & Alex, old friends Zvi & Beth, Rabbi Kligfeld, and lots more friends of Sabba Paul and Safta Sheila. On Sunday we drove down to New Jersey to see Bubbie Rose, Aunt Phyllis, Uncle Marty & Aunt Ina, Grandma Shelly & Grandpa Steve, Uncle Eric & Aunt Andria, cousins Risa, Mandi, Jay, Miriam, Sara, Paige, Justin, Jacob, Sophia, & Asher, and some of my oldest and bestest friends Darren, Jeni, & Aimee. A lot of people in a little period of time, but it was worth the whirlwind. There are lots of photos to look through. Enjoy!

December Photos in Melrose

It's been too long since we've uploaded photos. Here are some cute ones from early December. Family photos to come!

A Wonderful Weekend...

Inspired by Spider-Man 3

We just finished watching Spider-Man 3.
The movie was very "eh," but Daddy and Paul were inspired anyway. . .

(Yes, Daddy is "Mary Jane" in this picture.)

Paul, disgruntled baby.

Daddy was feeding him this morning when Paul suddenly spit up so hard that formula came out of his nose!

I ran in and helped mop up the mess, and didn't think to take a picture until after he was mostly cleaned up.

(It was wicked funny, and I feel horrible for finding it funny, but both daddy and baby seemed more startled than hurt, so. . . )

Paul, cleaned up but still disgruntled:

Daddy, also disgruntled:

Daddy reads to Paul

Daddy reads Paul a Hanukah story. . .

*sigh* Everyone's a critic.

Paul's first Air-Guitar experience

Well, air guitar, sax, and percussion . . . a boy needs variety.
I think he's a natural.

(It's the theme song from Night Court.)

Holiday Parties and Two Weeks of Photos

Friday night was the Aptima holiday party. The family finally feeling better, Beren, Paul, Cindy (visiting from NY) and I all decided to enjoy some friends and food. Paul was a hit, and seemed to enjoy himself the whole time (until the awards). We amazingly stayed until 10:30!

I haven't posted photos in a while, so here are some nice ones. They include photos from the hospital, the first few nights of Hanukkah, the Aptima office party, and visits from Shira, Sam, Jonah, Safta, and Cindy.

Happy Hannukah & Happy Homecoming

What a great day! Beren is home from the hospital, and it is Chanukah! We lit the Menorah, sang songs, and opened lots of presents. We love Hanukkah!

Meeting the Cousins...

Last weekend was a nice one. Cousins Shira, Sam, & Jonah came to visit while Beren was in the hospital. Look at all that family!

How Was Your Day At The Hospital?

Mommy is happily out of surgery, so Paul spent the day sunbathing with her. We sure hope mommy comes home soon. We really miss her...

A Pictureless Post

Paul spent much of yesterday and today hanging out at the hospital with his Mommy. She fed him, and held him, and fed him some more - it was a lovely way to spend a few days! Well, lovely for being stuck pre-op in a hospital room. . .

Tomorrow is the surgery, so Paul will hang out with Mommy for just a little while in the morning. Hopefully, he will get his fill of breastmilk then, as Mommy will afterwards be pumped full of yummy drugs which are not so good for babies. . .

Thank goodness Grandma Shelly was able to be so helpful all week, and that Safta Sheila is coming up tomorrow morning to help out for the next few days!

The Wonder of the World

Paul gets excited by all of the wonder of the world. Much to see, feel, taste, hear, smell, and experience. Here he is, excited as can be. Wait...a...second... is this the right video?

SWAT Team

Paul seems to like his Who0zit. He swats and swats!

(Don't worry about the whale sounds. We keep one in the bathtub in the next room.)

The First Thanksgiving

Well, it was Paul's first Thanksgiving. And it was a great one filled with Charlie Brown, Macy's Parades, and even a bit of football. He was mostly asleep, but when he was up he had a good time with his wonderful big cousins, his aunt and uncle, and with Max the cat.

Happy Luniversary, Paul?

Today is Paul's first Luniversary! Happy one month of life, my son. And now for turkey...

RIOT!!!!!

I thought with a win over U. of M. that we'd be safe, but no. Paul started setting doors on fire and flipping over cars. Win or lose, a true Buckeye will always riot.

O! H! I! O!

Go Buckeyes!!!

Getting ready for the weekend

So, here's Paul all sweet and sleeping. . .

This picture was taken yesterday.

Today, Paul has been either crying or eating, and mommy is feeling a little drained. So, we decided to take another bath! Daddy was home to record the event for Paul's future prom dates. . .

Look at the dandylion fuzzy head!!

This weekend, Safta Sheila and Bubby Barbara are coming up for a visit.

Paul can't wait to get even more spoiled!!

Bath time!

So, Paul had his first real bath yesterday. He seemed both dismayed at being all naked and amazed by the new sensations. . .at least until mommy lost her grip on the slippery lil dude and he took a face plant into the bathwater. At that point he was just p.o. Better grip next time, mommy!

Today was gorgeous outside, so we went for a nice walk to the lake. Paul had some lunch lake-side (bottle of formula), and then both Paul and mommy had a nice nap when they got home. (Mommy really needed the nap, as Paul had been up most of last night. . .)

Bouncy Seat / New Game

Today Paul chilled out in his new Bouncy Seat/Rocker thingy that mommy assembled yesterday. His favorite new game is to look all cute and asleep, until mommy tries to do something like get breakfast or go to the bathroom. Then he spits out his pacifier and cries and cries! Oh, such fun for Paul and mommy!

This afternoon, the goal is to give Paul his first real bath. . . wish us luck!

Tummy Time!

Busy morning for Paul! Eating just about every hour (poor mommy!), squirming with gas pains afterwards, napping just long enough to lull mommy into complacency - then lather, rinse, repeat! Paul did get some tummy time in while mommy tried to assemble his new bouncer/rocker seat. . .

Bris Video

It took me a while, but I've finally uploaded the 8 parts of the bris video. Sorry for the low quality/weird numbering/multiple posts, but that's what happens when you use your camera to take video. Enjoy!

Nice day for a walk!

Today was gorgeous, so Paul and Mommy decided to go out for a walk.

(Thanks to Jon and Karen for the pram - way more comfy than the too-big car seat!)
We walked into town, where Mommy got an egg-nog latte (decaf) - her first Starbucks in nearly 9 months. Paul was underwhelmed, and slept through the entire outing.

Hello to Daddy!

Daddy is back at work this week! We're doing A-OK (but we still miss having him around). We love you, Daddy!

Well, they didn't show the Ohio State/Wisconsin game in our market. But we got dressed up for it anyway. Thanks, cousin Gina for the great outfit!

Sweet Dreams, Baby Paul!

My favorite way to nap!

See Paul Hiccup. Hiccup, Paul, hiccup!

Paul was a big-time hiccupper in utero, and he continued hiccupping just hours after his birth. He sees no reason to stop now at one week, 4 days old.

Why "Flicker"?

A few folks have asked why this is called "Flicker's Blog" rather than "Paul Andrew's Blog" or "Pubert's Blog." When we went in for a very early ultrasound to check on the status of the pregnancy, the technician said she saw a flicker of a heartbeat. We saw it too, and we called him Flicker until last Monday. In fact, it is difficult for us not to call him Flicker!
Look at him up there, just a fetal pole. And now he's a squirmy little man.
