A Pictureless Post

Paul spent much of yesterday and today hanging out at the hospital with his Mommy. She fed him, and held him, and fed him some more - it was a lovely way to spend a few days! Well, lovely for being stuck pre-op in a hospital room. . .

Tomorrow is the surgery, so Paul will hang out with Mommy for just a little while in the morning. Hopefully, he will get his fill of breastmilk then, as Mommy will afterwards be pumped full of yummy drugs which are not so good for babies. . .

Thank goodness Grandma Shelly was able to be so helpful all week, and that Safta Sheila is coming up tomorrow morning to help out for the next few days!

The Wonder of the World

Paul gets excited by all of the wonder of the world. Much to see, feel, taste, hear, smell, and experience. Here he is, excited as can be. Wait...a...second... is this the right video?

SWAT Team

Paul seems to like his Who0zit. He swats and swats!

(Don't worry about the whale sounds. We keep one in the bathtub in the next room.)

The First Thanksgiving

Well, it was Paul's first Thanksgiving. And it was a great one filled with Charlie Brown, Macy's Parades, and even a bit of football. He was mostly asleep, but when he was up he had a good time with his wonderful big cousins, his aunt and uncle, and with Max the cat.

Happy Luniversary, Paul?

Today is Paul's first Luniversary! Happy one month of life, my son. And now for turkey...

RIOT!!!!!

I thought with a win over U. of M. that we'd be safe, but no. Paul started setting doors on fire and flipping over cars. Win or lose, a true Buckeye will always riot.

O! H! I! O!

Go Buckeyes!!!

Getting ready for the weekend

So, here's Paul all sweet and sleeping. . .

This picture was taken yesterday.

Today, Paul has been either crying or eating, and mommy is feeling a little drained. So, we decided to take another bath! Daddy was home to record the event for Paul's future prom dates. . .

Look at the dandylion fuzzy head!!

This weekend, Safta Sheila and Bubby Barbara are coming up for a visit.

Paul can't wait to get even more spoiled!!

Bath time!

So, Paul had his first real bath yesterday. He seemed both dismayed at being all naked and amazed by the new sensations. . .at least until mommy lost her grip on the slippery lil dude and he took a face plant into the bathwater. At that point he was just p.o. Better grip next time, mommy!

Today was gorgeous outside, so we went for a nice walk to the lake. Paul had some lunch lake-side (bottle of formula), and then both Paul and mommy had a nice nap when they got home. (Mommy really needed the nap, as Paul had been up most of last night. . .)

Bouncy Seat / New Game

Today Paul chilled out in his new Bouncy Seat/Rocker thingy that mommy assembled yesterday. His favorite new game is to look all cute and asleep, until mommy tries to do something like get breakfast or go to the bathroom. Then he spits out his pacifier and cries and cries! Oh, such fun for Paul and mommy!

This afternoon, the goal is to give Paul his first real bath. . . wish us luck!

Tummy Time!

Busy morning for Paul! Eating just about every hour (poor mommy!), squirming with gas pains afterwards, napping just long enough to lull mommy into complacency - then lather, rinse, repeat! Paul did get some tummy time in while mommy tried to assemble his new bouncer/rocker seat. . .

He does look a bit like me. But does he look like his mommy too?

Bris Video

It took me a while, but I've finally uploaded the 8 parts of the bris video. Sorry for the low quality/weird numbering/multiple posts, but that's what happens when you use your camera to take video. Enjoy!

Nice day for a walk!

Today was gorgeous, so Paul and Mommy decided to go out for a walk.

(Thanks to Jon and Karen for the pram - way more comfy than the too-big car seat!)
We walked into town, where Mommy got an egg-nog latte (decaf) - her first Starbucks in nearly 9 months. Paul was underwhelmed, and slept through the entire outing.

Hello to Daddy!

Daddy is back at work this week! We're doing A-OK (but we still miss having him around). We love you, Daddy!

Go Bucks!

Well, they didn't show the Ohio State/Wisconsin game in our market. But we got dressed up for it anyway. Thanks, cousin Gina for the great outfit!

Sweet Dreams, Baby Paul!

My favorite way to nap!

See Paul Hiccup. Hiccup, Paul, hiccup!

Paul was a big-time hiccupper in utero, and he continued hiccupping just hours after his birth. He sees no reason to stop now at one week, 4 days old.

Why "Flicker"?

A few folks have asked why this is called "Flicker's Blog" rather than "Paul Andrew's Blog" or "Pubert's Blog." When we went in for a very early ultrasound to check on the status of the pregnancy, the technician said she saw a flicker of a heartbeat. We saw it too, and we called him Flicker until last Monday. In fact, it is difficult for us not to call him Flicker!
Look at him up there, just a fetal pole. And now he's a squirmy little man.
