We had turkeys over for Rosh Hashannah. . .

Live, wild turkeys that is. . .a whole flock. . .wandering around the front yard, stopping traffic, enjoying the cool, muggy weather. . .

We also had Grandma Shelly, Grandpa Steve, our friends Emily and Aviv, and (an uninvited guest) a fever. Grandma gave Paul chicken soup in a sippy cup (great idea, Safta Sheila!). . .
. . .and lots of cuddles.
Some Advil and a warm bath helped a lot, and Paul revived enough to play the spoons for Emily before going to bed.

New food: Mustard?

Specifically, Jack Daniel's Horseradish Mustard.

I was having some deli roast beef slices for dinner as I was feeding Paul some bread, and he was intently watching me dip the meat into a small dish of mustard. I watched him watching the mustard. . .dipped a small bit of bread in the mustard. . .and gave it to him. . .

His eyes kind of bugged out as he chewed and swallowed, and then he made an "aahh" noise - like one would make after chugging a beverage. Then he looked around for more. It was the same routine after each bite - eat, eye bug, swallow, aahh, more?

Alas, I was unable to take any pictures or video for this one. . .

I miss you, Daddy!

Daddy - hi. mommy's making me pose for fashion shots again. Come home and help me, OK? Before she whips out the dresses again?
Please? I think we're safe until Friday. . . can you come home on Friday? Good. Love you!

So, Mommy came home from work, and Paul and Grandma Shelly were having a grand old time playing "Grandma's gonna get you as you crawl away giggling." Mommy and Grandma were talking, Paul was pulling himself up the kitchen table leg. . . and fell, hitting his head on the corner of the leg. Paul cried for about 20 seconds, then yelled at Mommy and Grandma for another 20 seconds, then began trying to pull Mommy's earrings out. He's got a bit of a bump, but is otherwise fine. Here is an artist's rendering of the second 20 seconds:

11th Luniversary!!!!

Paul was 11 months on Monday!

Paul has discovered his tongue. He can stick it out, and lick his chin, and taste the air, then use his fingers to push it back in his mouth. He also loves looking at himself in the mirror when we're in the car - he laughs and flirts - it's very funny to watch. . .much more interesting than watching the road. . .

Hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house on Sunday. . .

Grandma Shelly and Grandpa Steve have finally finished unpacking (except for the spare room, but we won't think about that for now)! And they have an awesome rug! Let's hang out!
Why yes, I would love luncheon out on the patio. . .thank you, Grandpaw.
Whatchu talkin 'bout, Mommy?
Asher is going to make a fine surgeon. . .and we'll call Uncle Eric "9-Fingers Eric."

Apples and Pumpkins: the Videos

Apples and Pumpkins!

After the Zoo and Playground, we said our fare-thee-wells to our friends, and drove out to Doe Orchards for apple picking. Last year was the first time we missed apple picking since Shawn and I started dating, and we weren't about to miss Paul's first picking season. . .

Paul fell asleep on the way to the orchard, and was not exactly thrilled at being hauled out of his car seat and into the bright sunshine. . .
( I love how Shawn looks gloriously happy, with the sunlight filtering through the trees, reaching for the perfect apple. . .and Paul couldn't be less enthusiastic if he tried. . .)
Paul perked up after a bottle, and got into the picking thing. . .

Note to self: GROW TEETH!!
GROW TEETH NOW!!!!

There was a pumpkin patch at the entrance to the Orchard. . . Paul decided he was going to pick out our pumpkin. . .

Only one?

But I want ALL of them!!

Um, OK, I want this one. . .

. . . I LOVE this one!!

Does this think have a standard clutch, or an automatic?

Yep, git in the back, and I'll haul ya home, ayuh.
