Joss is two! We threw a huge two-year-old birthday bash for him on February 5, 2012. He had family, friends, classmates, crafts, cake, and music. And presents - did I mention the presents?

Concertizing
Daddy plays euphonium with the wonderful Lexington Bicentennial Band. He even had a solo in the last concert! We loved coming to see him in an inside concert - but nobody told us that we couldn't dance around during the concert. So we danced around the WHOLE time.

Where did winter go?
We didn't have much snow this winter, so when it did snow, we tried to take advantage of it. Mostly we just went sledding around the house.

Friend's Birthday Party!
Who needs to do the "planned" activities? I'd rather play over here, away from ask the other kids and their noise. I learned this trick from mommy!

Let's See A Show

Paul with the world's only pregnant "Glinda the Good"
It was bound to happen. With parents who love the theater, we knew Paul had a dramatic streak. How could he not? But we've put off live theater for him in part because he's not always able to sit still. But when one of his favorite books and movies was being shown at the Wheelock Family Theater, how could we refuse? Joining some good friends, we got our tickets to the last matinee performance. So, to Oz? To Oz!
Paul had a blast. He was grinning from ear to ear from the start of the overture to the curtain call. He stayed on my lap the whole time and barely moved. He was transfixed and giddy. His favorite part? (1) the Cowardly Lion and (2) the Jitterbug. He must have really been paying attention, because his favorite part of the movie is Roy Boldger's Scarecrow - and the Jitterbug isn't in the movie or the book.
I'm glad he's caught the bug. Hopefully Joss will too.

The boy's got flair.
So, I'm sitting on the living room floor, annoyed, and shout for Paul to get in here this minute to get his PJs on.
Nothing. . .
. . .then he leaps into the room and crouches dramatically - wearing a black half-mask and not a stitch else.
What could I do? I cracked the hell up, and we spent the next several minutes laughing our fool heads off.

Negotiations and Love Songs

Mommy: Paul, I have something to tell you. I love you very, very much.
Paul: I love you too, Mommy, but only a little bit. To the moon, but not back down again.
M: Well, I love you to the moon and back down again, around the sun and home again.
P: I love Daddy to the moon and back down again, but I only love you to the moon and NOT back down again.
M: I'll take what I can get.
