6th Luniversary!!
Oh, Joss, what a big, sweet boy you are!

6 months ago, you came into this world as such a surprise - so tiny, so fragile.

Now you can sit (supported), eat your toes (which are quite tasty). . .

. . .grab at objects - everything ends up in your mouth. . .

. . .you are cuddly and chubby. . .

. . .you love your Mommy and Daddy, and can't keep your eyes off of your brother (devotion or caution?). . .

. . .and you can roll over, front to back!

When you are hungry, you are HUNGRY, and if you're not fed IMMEDIATELY, you let everyone in a mile radius know of your displeasure. You nurse like a champ now, and you need to "explore" with one arm as you eat - you grab at mommy's shirt, face, and hair when nursing, and at the bottle and hand of whoever else is feeding you.
You're still working on solids - you like to eat them, but not to digest them. It's hard to remember that your system is technically only 4.5 months old, especially since you have the appetite of a lumberjack.
You fight sleep with every fibre of your being - it's rare for you to nap for more than 15-20min at a time, and most evenings end with a 20-45min crying jag.
You also love to be tickled and have mommy nibble at your cheeks.

We're so happy to have you in our family. Happy half year, my lovely monkey-butt.

Who needs Gin and Juice?
We come out of the baby-food aisle to the eggs case along the back wall of the store, and two cute little Latina girls start pointing and telling their mommy to look at the elephant and the baby.
Paul leans back in the cart, casually holding on to Mommy's bottle of peach schnapps, and begins to mack on these very young ladies, smiling, and waving back from under his pile of pull-ups and baby spinach. (Joss was finally sleeping in the stroller, an empty bottle of his own dangling from his lips.)
Don't be a player hater. Be a participator. Peace out.

So, we're in Michael's craft store, getting ribbons for the luggage. We're using a Babies r Us shopping cart (where we were going last in our shopping tour of a strip mall) as a stroller, with Joss in his car seat in the shopping cart seat area, and Paul hanging out in the basket part.
We go to pay for the ribbons and a felt elephant hat (much like his monkey hat, and NOT like the perverted knit hat Safta bought for him last winter), and all seems well. We leave the store, and walk to our next destination.
I come around the front of the cart to open the store door, and I see something shiny in Paul's hand. Did you take something that wasn't yours, Paul? He did - a Ghiradelli's chocolate from the display by the register. And it was all soft and melty through the wrapper from his hot lil hand. *sigh*
We go all the way back to Michael's, where the clerk and a co-worker are chatting by the register. I explain that my child took something that was not his, and had him apologize, and pay for the candy. The clerk was not only surprised that I came back, but thought the slightly shamed boy in his elephant hat and blue sunglasses was the cutest thing she's ever seen.
Once we left the store, I explained again how we do not take things that aren't ours, and gave a kiss to the cutest petty crook for miles around.

Hello, Uncle Peter!
When Paul was nearly 6 months old, we took him to Colorado to visit his Grand-Uncle Peter and Grand-Aunt Beth. For Joss, Uncle Peter surprised us with a visit to Boston!
He was in town for some business meetings, but had some free time to hang out with us on Wednesday evening. After a grueling drive from Logan to Wakefield (thanks for sitting all twisty and holding a bottle for the otherwise screaming-his-head-off Joss, Uncle P!), we met up with Daddy and Paul for a band concert.
Meta Photography - Picture of Uncle Peter taking a picture of Joss, Paul with beverage observes.

Uncle Peter gets to know Joss while Daddy plays euphonium.

Paul loved climbing up and down the stairs of the gazebo, almost as much as he loved climbing the open metal railings around the gazebo.

Paul does love to dance. . .
Joss finally calms down for a picture.

Uncle Peter hangs out with Paul - they're the two sitting on the left at the top of the stairs.

Such a small face. Such a loud and piercing scream.

By the end of the evening, Uncle Peter and Joss have cemented their relationship. And then Joss screamed the whole 10 car ride back home. *sigh* Sorry Aunt Beth had to miss out on all the fun! =)

New Food: Sweet Potatoes
Hey Joss! You look great in your highchair!

Wanna try something new?

Sweet Potatoes!

What do you think?

Glad you liked them so much!

Joss eagerly ate about 3/4 of a serving of sweet potatoes, thickened with a little baby oatmeal. He seemed fine and dandy for a few hours - played, nursed, played some more. Then Mommy picked him up and began to walk to the kitchen. . .and Joss barfed up most of his dinner all down Mommy's arm and back and the floor.
While Mommy froze in shock and disgust, Daddy hung up on his work conference call, scooped up a somewhat confused Joss, and sent Mommy to the shower. After Daddy cleaned Joss' face and hands, changed Joss' clothes, and began to redial his work call. . .Joss barfed again. *sigh* I think we'll skip the solids for a day, and try again Thursday.

Paul's sick day
So, Paul came home from day care with a fever on Monday afternoon. By Tuesday morning, he was feeling fine and ready to play. After watching an hour of Super Why.

Joss enjoys the extra attention from his big brother.

Paul sang the alphabet song and told Joss the names of the dangling animal toys.
