More yogurt! More! Faster!

Joss loves yogurt. One spoon does NOT get enough yogurt to his mouth; it's way too slow. . .

Hmmm. . .if I use two spoons. . .

. . .I can eat yogurt twice as fast! Nom nom nom!!

After Mommy cleans me up, it's also a puppet!

Hey! I love yogurt too! I really, really do!

What's for lunch, Joss?

What is in this bowl Mommy put on my tray? Is it? Could it be?

YES!!!! MAC & CHEESE!!!

How do I feel about having Mac & Cheese for lunch?

I LOVE it!!!

Now. .. how does this spoon work? . . .

Oh, Pastina!

Why do you have to be so delicious, yet so hard to clean up?

I've been feeding myself Pastina and Cottage Cheese. Yummy!!

First really good meal I've had in close to a week, what with the fever and the stomach bug. . .

I'm feeling better now!!

(And I have 5 teeth!!)

I also have a tongue! Ith righ 'ere!

Mommy? Can we wrap this up now?

Ah - before the bath, the dust bust!

I *LOVE* seaweed!

Paul really enjoys the roasted seaweed snacks that Mommy bought at Trader Joe's. He does, however, get seaweed and kiwi confused. (He does not like kiwi because of all the little seeds.)

Master of Disaster: He's Super Cereal, You Guys

Wall-to-wall Cheerio carpeting? Just what Mommy's always wanted. . .

Yup, the whole "spill proof" cup worth of cereal. . .

At least I know that these cheerio's are relatively clean. He has a habit of grazing from the floor, much like a puppy.

New Food: Milk

Here Joss, try this cow milk in a cup!

Blast! What is this vile drink you have given to me?

Where's my mommy milk? *sniff*

New Food: Cheese Stick, or: Picnic at the Dr's office

Wednesday, Feb 9, 2011, Joss had his 12 month check up! Dr. S was running a little behind due to an urgent care case in the next exam room, so we settled in to wait picnic-style!

Joss loved playing with those little wagon-wheel crackers. He also kept trying to share them with that handsome baby in the mirror.

After the appetizer, it was time for the next course - pumpkin-banana puree, which smells like cake! Joss can feed himself these handy pouches. =)

And now for the best course - Mozarella Stick! (Mommy watched Joss like a hawk, making sure he didn't choke.) Yummmm!

So, Joss is doing very well. He's self feeding (see above), crawling like crazy, vocalizing almost all the time, recognized his name, and knows who Mommy, Daddy, and Paul are. He tolerated the exam well, except for the lying down parts - he's too busy a baby to lie down!

Joss is in the 25% for weight (down from 50% last exam, but that's due to the drastic increase in activity and the transitioning to solid foods, and it perfectly normal around 9-12 months), remained in the 50% for height, and - oh yeah - 95% for head circumference. Our little Charlie Brown.

New Food: CAKE!!!

Oooh - pretty fire!

Hrm. . .not sure about this "icing" thing. . .

Lemme think about it. . .

. . .maybe one more taste, to be sure. . .

. . .OK, really, just one more try. . .

. . .

I LOVE CAKE!

NomNomNom!!!

Joss was soooooo wired on sugar. After his bath, he usually nurses himself drowsy. Last night, he nursed a little, then began rolling around on Mommy's lap, playing peek-a-boo with no one in particular, then doing this "pretend like he's going to nurse, then pull away, make a silly face, then crack up giggling" thing that was freaking hilarious. He finally crashed about an hour after bedtime. . .

New Food: Pastina

Mommy made some Pastina (tina star pasta) with cottage cheese, one of her favorite comfort-foods, for lunch. Joss seemed to love it too. . .

Well, the pastina and cottage cheese, and banana/orange medly. . .

New Food: Banana Slices

When Paul didn't want the banana with a door in it,* Mommy sliced it up and put some in a bowl for Joss. And Joss dove on them like they were Wonka's last golden ticket. . .

Joss can pick the slices up. . .

. . .and eat them all by himself!

Argh! The one that got away!

Paul already knows his brother is bananas.

from Jan 3, 2011

*Paul does not like "dirty bananas," bananas with any bruising, or even any brown on the peel. He only wants "clean bananas." When he asked for a banana, and the only banana left had a very small bruise, Mommy thought she'd be clever and cut out the bruised part, and give the rest of the unblemished fruit to Paul. Paul asked about the cut-out part, and Mommy thought she'd be even more cleverer and say that it was a door, isn't that neat-o. Paul was not amused, and began to tantrum that he didn't want the banana with a door, that he only wanted a clean banana without a door. *sigh* Finally, after Mommy sliced the top "doored" half of the banana for Joss, Paul decided that he could eat the other "un-doored" half, and peace was once again restored in the kingdom.

New Food: Teething Biscuit

Joss was jealous watching Paul eat the Zwieback Mommy baked, so we gave Joss some baby biscuits to gnaw on. . .

Hmmm. . .

Examining the biscuit. . .

Tasting. . .

Preferring a truck. *sigh*

That's not food, Joss! Hahahaha!
