You give me fever. . .

Fever. . . in the mornin'. Fever all through the night . . .
Yup, ole bubonic is back in action, now with more mucus. . .

Mommy got called at work today to pick up Paul early. After the Tylenol kicked in, Paul felt well enough to play a little.
What a great toy, you might be thinking, full of brightly colored beads, knobs, and fobs. Any baby would love to play with all those beads, knobs, and fobs! Well, you would be wrong. Paul does, however, enjoy dropping objects (in this instance, a container of baby prunes) through the beads, picking up said object, and dropping it again. And again. And again. . .

(We were watching the Oscars - Paul loved the big song/dance medleys.)

Saturday walk about the living room. . .

Paul walked his "alligator" around the living room on Saturday. . .well, for a few minutes, anyway. . .
. . .the trooper pulled him over with a .09 BMC (blood milk concentration). . .
The baby-cage is bouncy!
5 points for hitting the bucket!
Score!!

Stuck in the bin. . .

On Thursday, Paul some how got himself stuck in a bin. It was funny. . .
. . .oh how we laughed. . .
. . .or not. . .

Playdate on Sunday 2/15

On Sunday, Paul had a play date with James. Again, we forgot the camera. =(

Paul and James had a great time trying to drink from each other's water bottles - I don't get it either, I guess it's a toddler-guy thing.

The adorableness was rampant, and a good time was had by all.

Way behind in blog posts!

So sorry we're so far behind on blog posts! We've been recovering from our Florida vacation, getting back into the routine, and then getting sick - yet again. . .

But first, to back track. . .

Saturday, 2/14, our friend from college, Joe Vaughn, was in Cambridge with his all-star, high school debate team (he's a physics teacher and debate coach). We got to see him for lunch and had a great time catching-up.

The funniest part was when Paul got his fork stuck in his high-chair, and raccoon-like, refused to let it go and retrieve his hand. (Guess you had to be there.)

We forgot the camera, so here's a drawing instead:

Florida 2009 - Friday - home again

Vacation's end arrived too soon. . .it's time to go back to the frigid north.
Cousin Alison helps Paul get dressed in his winter gear.

Paul doesn't want to go back to Boston! He wants to stay in Florida with Bubbie Barbara!!
However, a Fig Newton in the airport helps to ease the pain. . .
Drink - check. Seat belt - check. Rat (stuffed) - check. Ready to fly!

Paul decided that he was NOT going to nap on this flight - no sirree, not a single Z - and spent 2/3 of the trip munching snacks, and the other 1/3 either walking the aisle or playing with Daddy's window shade. . .

Florida 2009 - Thursday - apres Beach

After the beach, we went to Grandma Shelly and Grandpa Steve's apartment for a shower (sand gets in the darnedest places), lunch, and a nap. Well, nap before shower. . .
Because of remarkably poor planning on the part of Mommy and Daddy, Paul had no clean clothes to wear after his nap, so Grandpa Steve volunteered a T-shirt. Which was a little bit too big. . . and difficult to crawl in. . .
Wake up, Daddy!
Quick cuddle. . .
Grandma, this shirt's too big!
Quick cuddle. . .
Who needs to walk when you can fly!!

Florida 2009 - Thursday at the Beach! part II

After thinking it all over, the tide, the water, the sand. . .
. . .Paul gives the beach a thumb's up!
Until the tide continued to come in. . .
. . .and yeah, that was enough.
Aaaaannnndddd, Paul was outta there. . .

Florida 2009 - Thursday at the Beach! part I

While Sunday was a little chilly, Thursday was bright and sunny and warm, and perfect beach weather! Grandpa Steve joined us for a little surf and sand. . .
That's the Atlantic Ocean, son.
And this is wet sand. Why is the sand wet?
Well, the ocean has tides, and this tide is coming in. . .
Yeah, I guess it is a bit cold. . .

For the Birds...

In honor of Darwin's birthday, I'll list all of the birds that Paul and I saw this week in Florida.

I'm sure we saw other, more common birds, but these were the cool waterbirds. Happy Darwin Day!

Florida 2009 - Wednesday - Playground

After snacking on ice cream, and playing in Bubbie's house, Paul, Bubbie, Allison, and daddy went to a playground for some outdoor fun.

We had Mexican food for dinner at La Bamba, where Paul inhaled grilled chicken, avocado, and plantain. He also managed to spill half a cup on ice water all over himself, to his shock and his parents amusement. Luckily, it's warm even in the evening here in Florida, and Paul made it home and into a bath with no problem.

New Food: Ice Cream Cone

Paul's had ice cream before, but not in a cone. . .

He was ambivalent about the ice cream (he kept trying to bite it, rather than lick it, and so was not as enthused as he's been when fed ice cream with a spoon), but he LOVED crunching the cone between his wee little front teeth. . .

Florida 2009 - Wednesday - Breakfast at 3Gs

After a wonderful night out, mommy and daddy met back up with Grandma Shelly, Grandpa Steve, and Paul for breakfast at 3G's Deli. Paul had a lovely evening with g'ma and g'pa, and was super cute gulping down mommy's grits.

Paul loved playing with/chewing on the creamer cups, but thought daddy's spoon trick was silly.
Paul also insisted on drinking his milk from a Styrofoam cup with a straw. He got over excited, grabbed and ripped the cup, spilling milk all over the table and floor. Daddy had excellent reflexes, and managed to save some of the remaining milk. . .which Paul insisted on drinking from a smush-proof cup. . .
